Barceloneta is the old sailors' neighbourhood of Barcelona, built in 1753 on land reclaimed from the sea. The neighbourhood was designed using enlightened criteria of uniform dwellings and ordered streets, which were mainly occupied by fishermen and sailors.
The Passeig Marítim is a long Boulevard that connects Barceloneta with the Olympic Port. It was designed and built in the first half of the 20th century and extended during urban development for the Olympic Games.
